Pinecrest Lake sits at an elevation of 5600 ft. right off of CA Highway 108. It is approximately 30 miles from Sonora and just below the town of Strawberry. Pincers lake is a popular camping destination and is the largest camp ground in the area. The recreation areas surrounding the lake and camp ground are both popular with locals and visitors and the lake can be very crowded during the peak summer months. Facilities include camp sites, a day-use beach and a snack shack, small shopping center and recreation cabins,  an outdoor amphitheater for movies,  visitor center, a marina with boat, kayak, and paddle board rentals, fishing and swimming areas. Visitors can hike around the lake or out to the Damn and back along a lake side trail. The hike around the lake is easy to moderate but seems slightly more difficult than it sounds. Pinecrest Things To Do

Pinecrest is small mountain lake located in the sierra foothills in the Stanislaus national forest and offers a number of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. The Pinecrest campground has 200 campsites with facilities that include a paved parking pad, picnic table and fire ring. Campground bathrooms have flush toilets, sinks and a utility sink. There is a dump station available and water supply. The campground has water faucets with potable water. Wi-Fi internet service is available, during posted hours, within 100′ of the kiosk. There are no RV hookups areas available Camping at Pinecrest Lake is popular for fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, bicycling, outdoor movies, star gazing, ranger campfire programs, taking a hike to Cleo’s bath, a large stone swimming hole above the lake,  hiking to catfish lake, taking a day trip to Clarks Fork or Kennedy meadows are also both great places to visit. Visiting Angels Camp

Angels Camp is located along Hwy 49 also known as City of Angels is the only incorporated city in Calaveras County. With a population just under 5000 this old gold country town is also sometimes known as “frog Town” based on a Mark Twain tale and is celebrated with an annual Frog Jubilee at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. It is a small town with total area of 9.3 km2 (3.6 mi2) and was founded by George Angel in 1849, who established a mining camp and trading store. Angles Camp was registered in 1938 as a California Historical Landmark and the Angels Camp museum was founded in 1951. The Angels Camp museum opens at 10:00 AM but is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
